LA native The Koreatown Oddity returns to Stones Throw for his fourth album, Purdy, on lavender haze vinyl LP. It feels like a proving ground for an avant-garde rapper taking on fatherhood and partnership with the wide-open confidence and curiosity of a child’s imagination.
Across Purdy, The Koreatown Oddity soundtracks a knight’s first battle, documents the cultivation of a beautiful lawn, and wonders whether anyone really means it when they say “have a great weekend”.
What ties it all together is the growing sense that he is now part of something bigger.
Purdy brings Dominique Purdy and The Koreatown Oddity into full view at once: musician, father, and committed peddler of the absurd.
