Public Enemy, the influential American hip-hop group, formed in Long Island, New York, in 1982 and officially incorporated in 1985. Core members Chuck D and Flavor Flav are known for their socially critical and often militant-sounding lyrics combined with a loud, sample-heavy sound.

They are considered one of the most influential, controversial, and radical bands of their time, making the leap from underground hip-hop to alternative music in the 1990s and into the mainstream. "Bring The Noise!" - they're still rocking it in 2025!
